Laptop RAM and SSD upgrade in Bangalore
A laptop that takes minutes to start, freezes when a few browser tabs are open or crawls through a Teams call is often not worn out. It is usually waiting on an old hard disk or running short of memory. Swapping the hard disk for an SSD, or adding RAM, is one of the cheapest ways to make it feel quick again.

We check your exact model before quoting: some laptops have RAM soldered to the board or only one storage slot.
Can my laptop be upgraded?
It depends on the model, and we check before you pay for anything. The things we look at:
- RAM slots: many laptops have one or two slots; many thin laptops and all Apple silicon MacBooks have memory soldered to the board, which cannot be upgraded.
- Memory type: DDR3, DDR4 or DDR5, and the speed the board supports. The wrong type will not fit or will not run.
- Storage slot: a 2.5-inch SATA bay, an M.2 SATA slot or an M.2 NVMe slot. Some laptops have two, which allows a second drive.
- The maximum the board supports, so you do not pay for memory the laptop cannot use.
- Whether the upgrade is worth it: on a very old laptop we tell you if the money is better put towards a replacement.
Moving from a hard disk to an SSD
An SSD has no moving parts, so the laptop starts, opens files and wakes from sleep far quicker than on a hard disk. It is the single upgrade that makes the biggest difference on an older laptop.
You do not have to reinstall anything. We copy Windows, your programs and your files from the old drive to the new SSD (cloning), check that everything opens, and give the old drive back to you. If you prefer a fresh start, we install a clean copy of Windows instead.
How much RAM do you need?
These are rules of thumb; tell us what you run and we suggest the right amount for your work and your model.
- 8 GB: email, browsing, documents and video calls, with some patience when many tabs are open.
- 16 GB: comfortable for office work, large spreadsheets, many browser tabs and video calls together.
- 32 GB or more: video editing, design, virtual machines, large data sets and development work.

Upgrading a company's laptops instead of replacing them
Three- to five-year-old business laptops such as the Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook and Lenovo ThinkPad are often well built but slowed down by a hard disk or 8 GB of memory. Upgrading them can keep them in service for longer than buying new ones.
For companies in Bangalore we check the fleet, list which laptops are worth upgrading and which are not, and upgrade them in batches at your office or through pickup and drop, so staff are not left without a laptop for long. Billing is monthly billing under a service agreement, or billing per job, on a GST invoice.
Questions about RAM and SSD upgrades
Will I lose my files when you fit an SSD?
No. We copy Windows, your programs and your files to the new SSD. We still recommend a backup before any hardware work, if the laptop starts.
Can you upgrade a MacBook?
Apple silicon MacBooks and many recent Intel MacBooks have memory and storage soldered to the board, so they cannot be upgraded. Some older MacBooks can; send us the model and we check.
Do you supply the RAM and SSD?
Yes. We supply parts that match your model. If you already have a part, tell us and we check that it is compatible before fitting it.
Is an SSD or more RAM better for a slow laptop?
If the laptop still has a hard disk, the SSD almost always helps most. If it already has an SSD and slows down with many apps open, add RAM.
Do you upgrade desktops too?
Yes: RAM, SSDs and hard disks in branded desktops, assembled PCs, all-in-ones and workstations.
What happens to my old hard disk?
It is yours: we hand it back. It can be used as an external drive for backups with an inexpensive enclosure.
How long does an upgrade take?
The repair time depends on the fault and on parts availability. We diagnose first and confirm the timeline as soon as possible.
Is there a warranty?
Yes: 1 month on the repair we carry out.
